HEALTH REQUIREMENTS Exhibition of Livestock in Georgia

ALL LIVESTOCK MUST HAVE CURRENT HEALTH PAPERS

General Rules for both Market Hog and Breeding Gilt Shows
  • While every reasonable precaution will be taken for safeguarding livestock, it should be understood that the livestock is entered in competition for prizes and that the owner assumes all responsibility for any accident, loss or damage that may occur. Neither the fair Management, its officers nor agents will be responsible for any such accident , loss or damage.
  • All hogs MUST be in place by the time designated, or otherwise they will receive no consideration from awarding committees.
  • Judges will be appointed by Fair Committee.
  • The decision of the judges will be final.
  • Exhibitors will  held responsible for the cleanliness of their space surrounding same.
  • If it is ascertained that any exhibitor, in any ungentlemanly manner, refuses to comply with the regulations of the Fair Management and has taken exception to the judgment of a judge  or an awarding committee, the Fair Management shall bar the offending person from competition for  premium or exhibiting on the fair grounds until he shall have made proper amends and has been re-instated by a vote of a majority of the Fair Committee.
  • An exhibitor who tears off a premium ribbon, or authorizes any person to do so in the presence of the awarding judge , or who refuses to accept a ribbon from the judge, or otherwise insults the awarding judge, shall forfeit the premium or diploma  and be excluded from competition.
  • No Smoking or lighted candles, lamps, matches, etc., will be allowed in barn.
  • Premiums will not be paid according to ribbons, but by awards shown in the judges’ Record Books; ribbons do not always mean money prizes, and they may sometimes be attached by mistake, or may be misplaced or lost.
  • Show is open to 4 H, FFA and Pre-Club members from the seven area counties:  Bulloch, Bryan, Candler, Evans, Jenkins, Screven & Tattnall.
  • Swine must be apparently healthy. Market Hogs over 4 months of age must have a negative Brucellosis test and a negative pseudo rabies test within 30 days of the show.

RULES FOR MARKET HOG SHOW

  • All market hogs must be owned by, in the possession of and under the care of the exhibitor as of August 1, 2018.
  • Entries are due by October 1, 2018.  All entries must be registered at FairEntry.com
  • Entry Fee is $10.00 per animal to be paid by credit card.   No cash or checks please.  No fee for Showmanship.  Fee is non-refundable
  • There will be only one (1) showmanship and one (1) clean stall award during the swine shows.
  • Each exhibitor may enter up to three (3) market hogs.
  • It is suggested that pigs be farrowed on or after April 1, 2018.
  • Entries that are:
    • lighter than 225 lbs.
    • heavier than 275 lbs.
    • below U.S. Grade No. 2
    • bruised, cut late, unsound or lame or
    • not of show caliber will be eliminated by the sifting committee and penned separately from show animals.
  • All hogs will be weighed individually upon arrival and inspected by the screening committee.
  • Classes will be determined by weight ONLY.
  • HEALTH CERTIFICATES ARE REQUIRED.
  • Hogs must be eligible for show to enter showmanship.
  • Kiwanis Market Hog Project participants must turn in record book at check-in. Any Project Hog without a record book will be disqualified for awards.
  • All market hogs are to be removed from the barn at the completion of the show. No animals will be left over night.  Kiwanis will not be responsible if animals are left in barn.
  • The decision of the judges will be final.
  • All entries must be shown by owner unless cleared through Show Committee. A handicapped or disabled exhibitor may have an assistant if needed as long as the assistant is an exhibitor.
  • Classes are open to 4H and FFA members and pre-club age participants living in Bryan, Bulloch, Candler,

 

Youth Breeder Swine Show

Tuesday, October 16th  following Market Hog Show

Health Requirements same as Market Hog

  • All breeding gilts must be owned by, in the possession of and the under the care of the exhibitor as of August 1. 2016.
  • Entries are due by October 1, 2018.  All entries must be registered at FairEntry.com
  • Entry Fee is $10.00 per animal to be paid by credit card.   No cash or checks please.  No fee for Showmanship.  Fee is non-refundable.
  • There will be only one (1) showmanship and one (1) clean stall award during the swine shows.
  • To participate in purebred classes gilts must have a Registration Certificate.
  • If any class has more than 10 entries, that class will be divided equally by age (older group and younger group). In case of odd entry, that entry will show in the older group.
  • Exhibitors are limited to three (3) breeding gilts.
  • HEALTH CERTIFICATES ARE REQUIRED.
  • If fewer than five (5) swine are entered for a breed, they will be placed in Lot 5 Other Breeds.
  • Commercial Gilts will be shown by weight ONLY.
  • All decisions of the judge will be final.
  • All gilts are to be removed from the barn at the completion of the Breeding Gilt Show.
  • All entries must be shown by owner unless cleared through Show Committee A handicapped or disabled exhibitor may have an assistant if needed as long as the assistant is an exhibitor in the Show.
  • Classes are opened to 4 H, FFA and pre-club age participants attending school in the seven county area.

Prize Money for Swine Classes:

1st       $25

2nd      $22

3rd      $19

4th      $16

5th      $13

6th & Below      $10

Grand Champion:                   $75 & Award

Reserve Champion                $50 & Award

Showmanship and Clean Pen Award is for entire Swine Show. In Showmanship you can show either a gilt or market hog.
